Towards the end of Scotland’s second lockdown there was a feeling of optimism, hope and relief. However, because of the experiences lived through the last 12 months the world had changed and at the end of the day, everything must change. The sunset signifies the end of the old although within the details of the image the viewer can spot two design icons reborn.
The GPO telephone box now repurposed as a defibrillator, with the ability to save lives. The other, the redesigned classic car, the Fiat 500, which has been reborn numerous times since it’s inception in 1957. Both icons seem to say to the viewer, “If we can make it through this so can you.”
The sunlight pouring through the gate, open, inviting you to step into the new, beyond.
