The town is known for its beach, the annual funfair and for holding the second oldest highland games in the world. There’s a lot more to the small town that most people pass though on their way from Edinburgh to Dundee by train than meets the eye.
This shot highlights another facet of Burntisland’s identity, the harbour was an important part in the herring and coal industries and was home to a roll-on-roll-off goods ferry central to the forming of a trade route from Edinburgh to Dundee in the 1800’s.
Sometimes scratching beneath the surface brings surprising things to light, therefore no matter how much you believe you know, it’s worthwhile staying curious.
