Droplets

A reminder that even the little things are important

Small but perfectly formed could describe this photographic study of raindrops on a blade of grass. However, this compliment assumes that being small is a negative trait. Should the miniscule have the same relevance as it’s more sizeable brethren?

This image reminded me that in this world size seems to matter, from the super xl meal deal to the size of a person’s pay-packet it’s clear that large is associated with value in ways that small isn’t. That could be a symptom of living in a consumerist society which means we strive to amass more and consume more. Phrases like “the more the merrier” and “the bigger the better” seem to point to this view too.
Acknowledging that small things are just as important isn’t a difficult thing to do. We’re influenced by the microscopic universe all the time. Whether that’s the rejuvenating vitamin D produced in our skin from packets of light waves from the sun or feeling the effects of that nasty bug that’s going round it just proves that small is important.
By taking the time to notice the relevance of the small you appreciate that there is beauty and a place for all sizes.
