Even in the darkness, light (like love) always finds a way. The little glass sculpture is illuminated by the green light shining behind it. The hearts stand out but stand together in the focal centre of the shot.

Romantic songs are full comparisons of light with love. No wonder, sunlight can help trees grow, fruit ripen and flowers blossom. So too, can a healthy, loving relationship help individuals bloom, grow and strengthen so that they can endure even in the harshest of storms.
Does this mean that an individual’s resilience, the ability to weather emotional and physical shocks that many seem to feel comes from within be totally right? Where do the writers of love songs come up with the idea that one’s resilience can be linked to the feelings for another person?
Cynics would have us believe that the power of love is a social construct that is no more real than a fairy tale character, and the only person you can truly count on is yourself. However, I do believe that there’s something in this love thing that supercharges an individual’s resilience which helps people get through tough times. That makes me a unashamed romantic and proud of it.
